This is a hard-to-find LP Nai buffalo-horn carving NangKwak, Wat BanJaeng, Ayutthaya, early 2520s.

It's a rare and unique item because it's real hand-carving by using carving knife as natural carving traces can be seen on the front surface.

The NangKwak is big-size of 2.6x 3.4 cm, so it's also great for men's wearing.

NangKwak is a Thai goddess of wealth and fortune. Shop owners like to put a small NangKwak statue on an altar directing to the front door or hanging a small version on their necks to get bless by NangKwak.

It's believed that the beckoning posture of NangKwak will draw in wealth and fortune to their shops.

By Thai Buddhistic legend, NangKwak was a Bhraman merchant's daughter. She roved with her father to sell goods. One day morning, she met two Arahant monks, MahaGassapa and Sivali, and offered food to them.

The two Arahants blessed her to become wealthy for her selling career. And later she became rich as on the Arahants' blessing.

This great carving NangKwak is suitable for man or lady who is a shop owner or business person.

DISCIPLE OF GREAT MASTERS:
LP Nai learned Buddhistic incantation with Acharn YarmDaeng - a close disciple of LP Sook, Wat Makhamathao who was a greatest master at that time.

Acharn YamDaeng later brought him to learn with LP Sook around 4 months before the great master passing. After that he learned with LP Klueb, the Abbbot of Wat BanJaeng who had been living alone in the temple's graveyard for 20 years

LP Nai was very able in making traditional amulets, such as carving JingJok (house lizard).Takrut Maha Ud, Takrut Maha Rood for invincibility, life protection, Meedmoh, etc.

LP Nai was one of greatest tattooist masters of the country. His tattoo designs - JingJok and Yant KaoYod are very famous and so efficacious. It's said that most of the old-time Ayuthayan tattooed guys were tattooed by LP Nai.

A FORMIDABLE TEST
Due to LP Nai's fame for Buddhakom (Buddhistic incantation) ability, so he was often tested by black-magic masters. All were defeated.

One day, an important event happened. A black-magic master ordered his student bring a bowl of food offering to LP Nai at the temple.

LP Nai received that food offering and spooned out some part of food to a plate.

He chanted thankful to the owner of the food and returned the bowl to the student.

After the student left his Guti (monk house), he chanted onto the plate of food. Suddenly it became a bunch of wasp worms.

Ater the student came back to his master's house, the bowl of left-over food was returned to him.

Once the master opened the bowl, he was frightened and shocked by a cluster of wasps attacked him immediately. His body and face were swelled up. He was moaning with pain.

The student ran back to see LP Nai and told what happened to his master. LP Nai rushed to the black-magic master's house.

The master lying on the floor joined his hand together paying respect to LP Nai and said, "I apologize for what I have done, please forgive me."

LP Nai chanted his Mantras and made a holy water for him to drink. "You will get well by tomorrow. Do not perform this kind of black magic anymore because it will return to you. It's a heavy Karma."

The master paid his respect to LP Nai and accepted the advice.

A FAMOUS CONSECRATOR:
LP Nai was one of the great 108 masters who invited to consecrate the very well-known 25 Buddha Sattawas amulets in B.E. 2500.

This is one the two greatest consecration ceremonies of the country (the other greatest is Chinnaraj Indochine B.E. 2485).

And in B.E.2518 there was a great consecration ceremony at Wat Rattanachai, Ayuthaya for rians of 9 great monk masters called Rian Chaturaphitpornchai.

Those rians of the great 9 masters were specifically recommended for creation by LP Doo Wat Sakae, a greatest monk master of Ayuthaya.

LP Doo said the 9 monk masters were really able. And LP Nai rian was one of those 9 great masters concurrently consecrated at that time - this confirms the reputation and qualification of LP Nai for his incantation knowledge and ultra Dhamma.

The great 9 masters of Rian Chaturaphitpornchai are as follows:

1. LP Kuay, Wat Kositaram. Chainart
2. LP Nor, Wat KlangTharua, Ayuthaya
3. LP Nai Wat BanJaeng, Ayuthaya
4. LP Prink, Wat BosthKongThanu, Lopburi
5. LP Pae, Wat Pikulthong, Singhburi
6. LP Thir, Wat PaleiLai, Suphanburi
7. LP Koy, Wat Pananchoeng, Ayuthaya
8. LP Odd, Wat Banchang, Ayuthaya
9.LP Sie, Wat ThamKaoBoonnak, Nakonsawan

LP Nai passed away in B.E. 2531 at the age of 86.
